Planning a Family Saree Shopping Visit: A Simple Group Checklist

A family saree-shopping visit works best when everyone has a voice and each shortlisted piece has a clear reference. Use this group checklist to organise preferences, decisions and purchase notes before travelling to the showroom.

Make one brief for each person

Before the visit, ask each wearer to share the occasion, preferred colours and the amount they are comfortable spending. Keep these as separate notes. A single family budget or colour theme can hide very different preferences.

Ask what matters most to each person: a particular border proportion, a quieter pattern, a contrast blouse or seeing the full saree before deciding. If someone is not joining the visit, agree how you will include them. Buying for another person is easier when you know which decisions they want to make themselves.

Agree who decides, who advises and who keeps notes

Give the wearer the final say on their own shortlist. One relative can help compare options, while another records references and questions. These are practical roles for the visit, not rules about who should pay or which family member should choose.

If several people offer opinions at once, pause and ask the wearer to name their two favourites. Compare those first. “Which one feels right to you?” is a more useful question than asking the whole group to vote.

Prepare a shared shortlist before travelling

Browse our saree collections for starting ideas, then ask the team about current selections. A website photograph does not confirm that the same piece is available today. Share a small set of references and explain what you like about each one.

Our WhatsApp video-shopping service can help family members discuss options before making a journey. If someone will join remotely, confirm that arrangement with the team and the person involved. Do not assume that a photographed saree has been reserved without an explicit agreement.

Compare complete sarees, one wearer at a time

At the showroom, ask to see the body, border, pallu and any included blouse piece together. Finish one person’s comparison before mixing several new options into the discussion. Give each shortlisted saree a product reference, or a temporary note such as “A: green body, pink border” if a reference is not yet available.

Ask permission before taking photographs, and avoid including other customers in your pictures. If a family member is choosing remotely, send the reference with the image so they can distinguish the pieces. Ask the team to describe any shade or detail that is unclear on the call.

Keep a simple record of each choice

You can copy this note into your phone and repeat it for every wearer:

  • Wearer and occasion: who the saree is for and when it is needed.
  • Shortlisted piece: product reference and a brief colour description.
  • Details to confirm: stated fabric, weave, origin and any product-specific labels.
  • Price and inclusions: the quoted amount and what comes with the piece.
  • Open questions: care instructions, finishing and applicable purchase conditions.

Keep the notes factual. Our own-looms story gives background to our craft; still confirm the details of each actual saree you choose. Avoid transferring a description or price from one reference to another.

Review the final selection before arranging finishing

Read the references back to the team and confirm which piece belongs to each person. Ask separately about blouse stitching, fall, edging or any other finishing you intend to arrange. Check what is included, what would cost extra and who is responsible for the work.

Read the current returns and exchanges policy before payment, and ask how cutting or tailoring affects your purchase. Keep the bill, product details and supplied care guidance together. If anything remains uncertain, resolve it before authorising changes to the fabric.
